Less-Toxic Gardening

The District strongly recommends using less toxic products to control home and garden pests.

Using a technique called Integrated Pest Management, or IPM, means that you can solve pest problems while minimizing risks to people and the environment. IPM can be used to manage all kinds of pests anywhere -- in urban, agricultural, and wild or natural areas.

The District partners with stormwater and wastewater agencies around the Bay Area through a program called Our Water Our World, which gives information and support to customers and garden centers who wish to learn more about less toxic gardening. We provide fact sheets, training to staff at garden centers, pocket guides, events and activities, and more.

Learn how to reduce pests in your garden the healthy way by visiting Our Water Our World. If your particular problen isn't covered by one of our many helpful fact sheets, you can Ask Our Expert, who will get back to you on your issue.

Happy gardening!
